Definition & method

Select the retained official FAOSTAT QCL normalized CSV for item 15, element 5510, source unit t and source years 2000–2025; the retained release supplies this selection only through 2024. Preserve original decimal strings and original A/E/I/X/M flags without conversion, aggregation or new imputation. Map prepared ISO3 identities to the existing curated geography register and verify original M49 codes. Allocate FAOSTAT production to its reported calendar year, which represents the year containing the whole or bulk of the harvest rather than an assumed monthly aggregation. Flag M and blank originals remain missing; genuine reported zeroes remain zero. Retain original ZIP SHA256, entry, physical row, notes and publisher index/acquisition evidence.

What to keep in mind

• Available observations cover 124 reporting economies in 2000–2024. No 2025 observations, absent-economy values or regional totals are invented.
• Flags distinguish official figures (A), estimates (E), receiving-agency imputations (I), external figures (X) and missing values/data that cannot exist (M). Estimated, imputed and external values are not recast as official.
• All 167 external-source (X) notes in this extract say Unofficial figure. Their original providers are not individually named in the retained download; FAO is the distributor, not necessarily the sole original producer.
• Country methods and harvest timing can affect comparability. Montenegro and Serbia begin in 2006, Sudan in 2012, and West Bank and Gaza ends in 2022 in this extract. Historical predecessor countries and aggregates remain excluded.
• The recorded publisher bulk index identifies QCL update 2025-12-31. The exact retained download acquisition was 2026-09-06T05:52:06.788859+00:00; neither observation year nor intake/publication date substitutes for acquisition.
